WALLY'S
SERVICE / "D&S
Racing"
-
The Beginning : Wally's
Service has been around for over a half
a century. Originally a Service Station, the two story garage was
built to house a taxi cab company and a Tucker
Dealership. Although it has gone through various ownerships, as can
be seen by this early 1970's picture, it has retained its roots,
It still services automobiles, they do them one at a time,
and the customers deal directly with the people doing the work. The
current owner , Albert Salada, had purchased the property in the early
1980's, and has provided a home for both D&S Racing, and
Wally's
Service.

D&S Racing :
D&S Racing began as a "thing to do" with a
71 Vega. The Donovan Brothers;
Joe, Jim, & Ed, wanted to go racing when Numidia
Raceway had reopened. They had raced there as teenagers. Al Salada,
being an auto body handyman, decided to help take on the task of
making the Vega a drag car and giving it a home. As things evolved with
the Vega, Al decided to build a car of his own along with the help
of the Donovans. The result : The Honest Injun.
Hence forth, the name D&S Racing was born. Through friendships
made at the track, the Little Venice
Chevelle and the Daddy's Toy
Daughters Joy cars soon joined the team. The newest member
to the team has been Ron Kozak with his Ford F150. He has driven in both
the ETK and Street classes, taking the 1999 Street Class Championship.

Wally's Service : Unofficially,
Wally's has always been some sort of auto repair shop, but officially Wally's
Service reopened to the public in May of 1994. The current proprietor,
Frank Kalinowski has been involved with auto repair since the early
1980's, and has worked on all kinds of vehicles, from the classics, to
the muscle cars, to today's computer controlled models. With a degree
in electronics, and 6 years in the computer control field, the complexities
of troubleshooting today's vehicles is lessened.
